What is intersectionality?

This highly interactive symposium will explore how we can consider intersectionality in the planning and practice of research, health promotion, service provision, clinical care and social support of people and populations affected by HIV.

Contact
Email: J Johnson
Website: Eventbrite

What processes determine the reach (and limitations) the Australian HIV response?

What is evidence? What do we see when we view ‘evidence-based policy and practice’ through an intersectional lens?

How can our systems/ programs and ways of working adapt to ensure all key populations - especially underserved communities- benefit from new HIV prevention and treatment options?

Highly interactive facilitated discussions on:

  • Intersections of HIV, colonisation and racism
  • Intersections of HIV, sexuality and gender
  • Intersections of HIV and the law
  • Intersectionality and evidence
  • Intersectionality, peers and meaningful engagement

Need a HIV recap? An optional ‘introduction to HIV’ will be delivered by the HIV Outward (The Alfred) team from 8.30 – 10am. This will suit people who are new to HIV as well as those seeking quick refresher.
